Similar to System Options the Extended Master Control Options (or EMCO), if they exist, provide additional functionality controlled not by a single value but by a keyword. Therefor, an EMCO is a way to add programmed functionally to the system external to ActionWare's System Options. EMCO's consist of two parts, (1) a Keyword, and (2) its associated Value, often referred to as its Data. Periodically, as ActionWare is enhanced we use EMCO's for access added functions.
An EMCO is defined by its keyword, using ADDMETHOD as an example. The keyword can be up to 10 characters long, it is defined by the programmer. The second part of an EMCO is its Value, for many EMCOs this is often just 1 character long, but it can be up to 64 characters. You need to refer to the documentation for each individual EMCO to determine the characteristics and length of the Value.
If an EMCO does not exist in a particular database, ie it has not yet been added, the value of the EMCO returned to the program is one or more spaces (blanks).
An EMCO with a value which begins with an asterisk, such as *NONE, is always handled in the same way as if the EMCO does not exist.
An EMCO which normally contains just a single character treats a value of "N" in the same way as if the EMCO does not exist, or contains a value like *NONE.
For example, "ADDMETHOD". This EMCO if it exists will allow for an add of a contact record by using Script, the values are:
