Unique Key & Standard Fields

The unique key on the ActionWare database file (CUST file) is the combination of the data in the Primary ID (PID) field and the data in the Secondary ID (SID) field. The unique key cannot be duplicated by our ActionWare programs.

PID and SID Field Data

is automatically created by ActionWare programs unless the System Administrator has substituted a program of their own. The standard creation of data for these two fields is:

PID Field Data

is created from data existing in the COM or Company field. The program uses the 1st six characters of the 1st word of the Company name excluding A, An, The. To these six characters it adds the 1st letter of any subsequent word of the Company name excluding Company, Corporation

SID Field Data

is created from data existing in the CON or Contact field. The program uses the 1st six characters of the last name in the Contact field excluding, Jr, Sr, II, III. To these six characters it adds the 1st letter of any 1st name or middle initial, in that order. All titles for people should be data in their own field.

Standard ActionWare Fields

ActionWare provides the following fields at startup along with several demonstration fields. Most System Administrators will delete our demo fields. We strongly suggest that you keep the following standard ActionWare fields because the data in them is used by our programs for GoTo or search functions. Your System Administrator can increase the size of these fields and move them to any Panel best suited to your needs. Most installs choose to keep the company name, contact name, address and phone fields in the top global Panel. These Standard ActionWare fields are:
